On September 29th, 2018, family & friends will host the second Annual Jackie Deveau Memorial Fun Scramble Golf Tournament. WHY? Because of who he was and what he stood for in his life!
Jackie Deveau was a decorated Veteran in the Royal Canadian Air Force, proudly serving his country from coast to coast in many capacities… including deployment to the Middle East during Desert Storm in 1991; supervision of clean-up efforts for the Swiss Air disaster by Peggy’s Cove in 1998, to name a few. After a distinguished 34+ year career Jackie retired returning back home to Cheticamp to be with family and friends. In March, only five months later, he was tragically killed in a hit and run.
Jackie truly loved life and lived it to the absolute fullest. His unending passion for giving back to his community made him an incredible advocate and volunteer due to his giving nature.
He’ll be remembered for his infectious laugh, selfless heart, and incredible sense of humour. Jackie’s passion for playing hockey and golf was more than apparent to anyone who played with him or competed against him…
So, this Golf Tournament was born!
As someone who suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Jackie had been invited to participate in the “Soldier On” Golf Program in June 2016 (pictures on the left). He was truly humbled to be a part of this program and the good work they do for injured soldiers, focused on Veterans and Service men and women suffering from PTSD or from any injury, visible or invisible.
Please join Jackie’s community on September 29th at Le Portage Golf Club in Cheticamp, NS, and help support the “Soldier On” Program in Jackie’s memory.
A portion of your Registration Fee will go to Support this worthy not-for-profit charitable organization – a charity very near and dear to Jackie’s heart.
