We welcome you to Le Portage Golf Club in the Acadian village of Cheticamp on the Cabot Trail. Enjoy the spectacular course which has been forged from the forest, fields and farmland of the Cheticamp Highlands. Our nine hole, par 36, 3370 yard (back nine, par 36, 3381 yard with the 18 holes being par 72 with 6751 yards ) challenging course is one of Cape Breton's fabulous foursome, the finest quartet of golfing experiences on our majestic Island.

At Le Portage we are justifiably proud of our unique Acadian history and our place in the cultural mosaic of Inverness County. As you meander the scorecard you will notice it reflects our historic, cultural and religious past which is reflected in the present and will catapult us into the future. Names such as Le Portage reflect our past when canoes were carried by land past shallow sections of the Cheticamp River and relaunched when they came to deeper water.

The waterways were the main arteries of transportation and commerce when the Acadian settlers arrived in 1785 and 1786 to find safety in the mountains. L'Acadie reflects our past that has been immortalized in Longfellow's, Evangeline with the deportation of our people in 1755, as a result of the English and French struggle which became reflected in the colonies. The new 16th hole, called Le Pere Fiset, reflects the contribution of this able clergyman, ordained in 1864 in Quebec and posted to Antigonish Diocese. He was instrumental in the building of L'Eglise St. Pierre. His tomb is below the main altar of the church to view and reflect.
